Mrs. McGee's and Ms. Gresser's third grade Argyle Elementary students spent weeks learning about culture, heritage, and traditions. Later, the students were assigned to gather several interesting and informative pieces related to their family history and journey to America. The students conducted family interviews to learn about their family history, traditions and place of origin. They compiled the information into a two-page summary. The unit's culminating event, "Celebrating Culture Day" allowed the students to share their summaries and proudly present their attractive displays. The luncheon was fabulous! The students sampled pupusas, lumpia, coconut limber, pancit, black forest cupcakes, guacamole, Scottish shortbread, Haitian patties, bratwurst, empanadas, macaroons, flan, German chocolate cake, chips and salsa.
Can you imagine waking up early on a Saturday just to do math? Well, that is just what some of our 4th - 6th graders did last Saturday, May 20th. They did an amazing job! Our 5th grade math team came back with GOLD and our 6th grade came home with SILVER! We are so proud of all of our students.
