We see yellow ribbons on display all around us today. As a nation and as a community the yellow ribbons are out for all to see. We think of our soldiers, sailors, and airmen abroad. They have gone out from amongst us to places far away. We remember them and think about their safe return daily.
The yellow ribbon ceremony will transpire as follows:
All yellow ribbon ceremonies start at 8:15 a.m. The ribbons being tied around the tree will include the parents, student, and the Military & Family Life Counselor. Each family will pick their special tree and write a message of encouragement on the yellow ribbon.
When the parent has returned from deployment, we will have a ribbon cutting ceremony. The homecoming can be private with just the family or it can include the student’s homeroom class. This will be completely up to the family to decide. We will have the class present a welcome back poster upon their return as well. The ceremony is about 5-10 minutes long next to the tree to celebrate the return of the deployed parent.
Please call Ciara Howard, the Military and Family Life Counselor, at the school or on her cell phone @ (904) 451-0030 to make arrangements for your family to have a yellow ribbon. Thank you for your service!
